THE ART OF MICHAEL ZIRBES

Moving from North Dakota to Montana and then settling in Minnesota as a young child Michael has always loved drawing, painting and creating art. 

Working mostly in oils, water color, stained glass, and has also done some bronze casting. 

After graduating from The School of Associated Arts (later known as College of Visual Arts) in St. Paul Minnesota, he worked as an Illustrator, Designer, Art Director and is now pursuing art full-time.  

In painting, he is drawn to Impressionism, Plein Air painting and Fantasy Art always trying to capture beauty, light and motion. Some of his influences include, Daniel Varner, the New Hope and California impressionists, Claude Monet, Frederic Remington, NC Wyeth, Maxfield Parrish and Salvador Dali. 

Working with stained glass is more about working conceptually. Designing with color, shape and light to achieve a finished piece. Glass is a beautiful medium to work with and within a window the colors and light change with the time of day and the season. 

Michael continues taking workshops to improve his skills and become a better artist. His work is in many private collections.
